Digium acquired by Sangoma Technologies

I received this email from Digium today. Wow, I wasn’t expecting that! I am excited for this new venture and what it means for our clients and our business!

Hi Jeremy,
I am pleased to announce that Digium entered into a definitive agreement earlier today to be acquired by Sangoma Technologies, a publicly traded, Toronto-based communications supplier, headed by CEO Bill Wignall. The transaction is expected to close on or about August 31st, 2018. You probably know Sangoma best for their gateway products, session border controllers, SIP Station offering, and stewardship of the highly successful FreePBX Project. We are excited about this transaction and, you should be too.

Here are the benefits:
Creation of an industry-leading, value-based communications supplier with the ability to serve a broad customer set.

Establishment of a strong global presence.

Merging of the two largest open source communications suppliers in the world, Asterisk and FreePBX, under one umbrella.

Strong recurring revenue mix based on the combined strengths of our cloud-based Unified Communications and SIP trunking services.

Leveraging of complementary businesses, projects, and people.

What to expect in the short-term:
Business as usual through at least the end of the year.

Digium to remain as a legal entity and operate as a Sangoma subsidiary.

Digium to be listed as “Digium, A Sangoma Company” in the near future.

All Digium contracts will remain valid.

No immediate plans to discontinue products on either side.

No immediate plans to change channel structure on either side.
Over the next 90 days, the combined management teams will be heads down working on detailed integration planning. This acquisition is one that focuses primarily on scale, financial strength, and complementary products and people. We are fully expecting the resulting company and organization to be a positive move for Sangoma and Digium as well as our collective partners, distributors, suppliers and customers. No major product or channel disruption is expected.

Additional information can be found in the press release located here. You may also visit our website for the latest news. Should you have questions that require immediate attention, please feel free to call your Digium contact and they will be routed to the appropriate resource.

This is an exciting time for all of us here at Digium, and we look forward to sharing more as our plans materialize.

All the Best,

Steve Harvey
Vice President of Sales and Service, Digium
